DALLAS, July 1, 2025 (BUSINESS WATCH GLOBAL) — Philanthropic organization The Meadows Foundation has announced the appointment of Eric R. Meadows as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Meadows will succeed Peter M. Miller, who will retire at the end of 2025 after six years in the role.

Meadows, a great nephew of founders Algur H. and Virginia Meadows, brings a background in real estate, finance, and community leadership. He is currently a Partner at Phelan Investments in Beaumont, Texas, and is also the founder of PM Management and PM7 Construction, a general contracting firm focused on disaster recovery. He has served on The Meadows Foundation’s Board of Directors for 11 years.

In his new position, Meadows will oversee the Foundation’s ongoing mission to improve the quality of life for Texans. He has also collaborated with the State of Texas and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute to support a $70 million renovation of a behavioral health hospital in Beaumont.

“I am deeply honored to carry forward Al and Virginia’s commitment to the people of Texas. I’m excited to bring my experience and energy to the Foundation’s mission and look forward to building on the outstanding work of the Meadows family, board, and staff, while exploring new ways to serve Texans in the years ahead,” said Eric R. Meadows, incoming President and CEO of The Meadows Foundation.

Miller praised the appointment, stating, “The Board is confident that Eric’s experience and vision make him the right leader to guide the Foundation into its next chapter. This role requires a unique blend of operational skill, strategic foresight, and commitment to stewardship. Eric brings exactly what we need to advance Al and Virginia’s mission of lasting impact across Texas.”

Under Miller’s leadership, The Meadows Foundation awarded more than $185 million in grants to nonprofits across Texas and expanded the Wilson Historic District, which includes a notable collection of restored Victorian structures.

Founded in 1948, The Meadows Foundation is a private philanthropic institution based in Dallas. It supports initiatives in arts and culture, education, health, human services, civic affairs, and the environment. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed more than $1.4 billion in charitable funding.
