SmartRent Appoints Sangeeth Ponathil as Chief Information Officer

Ponathil will oversee the company’s technology strategy, including engineering, product development, applications, security, data and support teams. His responsibilities also include guiding the continued development of SmartRent’s IT systems and infrastructure to support growth across its IoT and smart operations platform.

Ponathil most recently served as Senior Vice President of Technology and Head of Product and Engineering at loanDepot, Inc., where he led a team of more than 250 technology professionals. His work included overseeing technology delivery across sales, operations, marketing, customer relationship management, servicing and corporate applications. He previously held leadership roles at YUM Brands as Senior Director of Information Technology for Pizza Hut, managing a team of over 100 and directing technology strategy for more than 5,000 franchise locations.

SmartRent also announced that Chief Technology Officer Isaiah DeRose-Wilson, one of the company’s founding members, will depart at the end of the year. According to the company, DeRose-Wilson will work with Ponathil to assist with the transition.
